Richard S. Carlquist,

CFP®, AIF® Financial Advisor, RJFS

Richard Carlquist is a Financial Advisor at The Manning Companies with over 30 years of experience, and a career built on a simple but powerful principle: treat every client the way you would want to be treated. He has spent three decades guiding individuals, couples, and families toward financial success, with a particular focus on multi-generational family wealth planning, investment management for those preparing for retirement, and investment advisory services for nonprofit organizations.

Richard's path to financial services was intentional from the start. He purchased his first stock as a teenager and has always been captivated by the capital markets and their broader impact on society. After graduating from the US Naval Academy in 1980, Richard served as a special operations officer in the United States Navy, earning an MBA from Chaminade University in Honolulu with an emphasis in taxation along the way, laying groundwork for the career he always knew would follow. He retired from service in 1995 and launched his next chapter in financial services.

Richard spent 25 years serving clients under a previous broker-dealer name before launching Deep Dive Financial Planning Group in 2020. A partnership with The Manning Companies followed in 2025, and after quickly confirming he had found the right team, he joined fully in 2026 — bringing his long-standing client relationships and planning experience into a firm with the depth, resources, and values to serve those clients well for years to come. It's a chapter he describes as his best yet.

Giving back has always been central to who Richard is. He taught basic investing classes to San Diego-based sailors and marines for over 20 years. He serves as an emeritus trustee for the US Naval Academy Foundation and is a past president of the Estate Planning Council of San Diego. He is also a member of the Financial Planning Association, a former member of the Cathedral Catholic High School finance committee, a past director of diocesan education for the Diocese of San Diego, and recently completed over 10 years of service on the board of the San Diego Chapter of the US Naval Academy Alumni Association.

On a deeply personal level, Richard is a living kidney donor, a decision that reflects the same generosity and commitment to others that defines his professional life. A proud husband, father, and grandfather, he enjoys golf, travel, gardening, fitness, fine dining, and time with family and friends.

Richard holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® designations.
